Discover the Magic
The goal of camp is to help everyone in our peaceful, loving, caring community learn how to build a world of peace, through our interactions with each other, learning how to problem solve in a positive, inter-active manner, and creating a completely non-violent environment for our campers, who come from a variety of life experiences.
Camp is located in the beautiful atmosphere of Codornices Park, in Berkeley, where the children are engaged in taking care of their natural surroundings as they build positive relationships both with the counselors and the other campers.
The day...
Camp begins when everyone comes together at the community circle. After singing, laughing, and just having fun together, campers enjoy specialty classes such as arts & crafts, cooking, sports, and woodworking. At the end of the day campers and counselors will join together again to share a little about what they've learned, sing, and get prepared for the next exciting day at camp.
Adventure...
Campers look forward to field trips, which include going to water parks, fruit picking and swimming once a week. Destinations are chosen with consideration of the age range of all the campers.
Our Commitment to Inclusion
A World of Peace Summer Day Camp staff believe it is important to offer these wonderful experiences of camp to as many campers as can get to camp. With that in mind, there are many discounts offered for children to be able to attend camp, as well as financial aid.

Founder, Karen Cagan, has been working with youth for 30+ years. She has a vision for a world full of happy, compassionate, and vibrant people that believe in creating a world where everyone is able to live in peace. Karen makes her beliefs a reality through A World of Peace and in social justice involvement. She passes on to staff and campers all the beliefs that define who she is and what she feels is important in the world. Karen's passion for building community ensures children and families receive love and care. One of the main themes of Karen’s programs is that there is no violence, no harm to any person or feelings - all campers, staff and students shall always feel they are in a safe environment. Karen builds a team of camp counselors that share the same values, and know how to communicate with each other and with the campers, in a positive and encouraging manner. And - she knows how to have fun in the camp, with the staff and the campers alike!
